Okay so if you read the guild chat like ever you've probably heard Yoshio talk about "Yosh points". The idea right now is to make them more of a tangible thing and less a tenuous reward.

I've been discussing the idea with Kai and Yosh and we feel that it might help to foster a sense of community if we rewarded guild members for participating in guild events (of which we will soon have more of than just our raid night).

The idea is that individual members will accumulate this special guild currency through positive guild behaviour. Things like donating to the guild chest and participating in guild events would be rewarded with Yosh points, which could then be redeemed for special prizes

We have a few ideas tumbling around for what those prizes might be. A similar system was used by a guild my brother was in to give positive guild members priority on loot drops, but right now we don't want to reward people who participate in our raids with a better chance at drops because it might gate out newer members from joining those events. Another idea was to have specific high end crafting rewards, which could be obtained from the guild chest for a certain amount of points. The problem with that tho is that those rewards would be incredibly expensive to make, and would therefor have to cost an incredible amount of Yosh points which might not feel entirely satisfying from a redeemers standpoint.

So I want to create an open dialogue with members of the guild via this thread, just to see what all everyone would want from a system like this. I'd love to hear your ideas for what we can do with this system :3

I was talking to Rubh about this last night, and he mentioned that we could use this system for our promotions, rather than longevity. I rather like this idea because reaching a certain amount of Yosh points would more accurately reflect the positive contributions to the guild a member has made, rather than "being active for a month"

A problem with that tho is that it creates a conflict between redeeming your points for a reward or saving up for a promotion. Perhaps we can keep a record of total Yosh points earned by a user, and then when they reach a certain amount (regardless of how much they've spent) they become eligible for promotion?

We would also have to gate point earning in some way. We want to avoid a situation where someone joins the guild, dumps 500 HQ Noble Grapes into the guild chest and instantly becomes guild leader

We could always have a limit per week or whatever. Like tomestones.

And for the total amount vs spending thingy we could use a spending system like the Grand Companies use for ranking up/prizes.
It requires a certain amount to rank up however you're free to spend them as you wish along the way.

Maybe if it was a mix of both? To gain first rank the requirements are 7 days in the fc and however many yoshio points. It would stop anyone ranking up unreasonably fast.

I think this is a great idea.

We could also limit how much doing "easy" things like chest donations are worth. For example, each chest item is worth 1 point, but a FC FATE is worth 50, Raid night is worth 200. This way, it's just more practical to actually participate when compared to just dumping things.

We could also possibly have a list of "item tiers" where, of course, higher items are worth more. And maybe have items crafted by an FC member be worth more points, seeing as those benefit the FC more than marketboard/vendor buying.

I like the item tiers idea because then we could change around the tiers based off what we need (say the guild house needs new furniture, we could up the reward for donating carpenter supplies for a while)

Here's what Al and I got so far:

Yoshio Points (YP):

  • 1yp per gil donated
  • ?yp for forum signup (large amount)
  • ?yp for linking your lodestone account to the forum (also large amount)
  • Signing up + linking = Auto rank up to Seaman Apprentice
  • You need to be on the forums if you wish to become a "Sailor" otherwise you're stuck at Seaman. (Who want's to be a semen for all their life?)
  • ?yp per item donated
  • Once you hit officer ranks (Ensign and above) you no longer receive yp.
  • ?yp per forum post **EDIT** This may be hard to do if at all, I don't know if you can see how many forum posts a user has made.

We want to make sure we give Yoshio Points for things that officer's don't necessarily have to be online for. (To avoid someone saying "I did X amount of FATES, give me 5000yp when we have no proof).

There's probably more details, but I wasn't writing all the stuff down. But that's pretty much the gist of how it's probably going to work. We didn't discuss rewards yet. But I'm willing to put minions and stuff up for rewards. I can fish a couple minions up that sell for 80k each.
